Cheryl's TOP THREE Campaign Issues

Exceptional Public Schools must be our #1 priority. It is a commitment that clearly states 'every child matters.' Excellent public schools attract high-paying employers. We must accept nothing less for our children & our families.

Sustainable Jobs must be developed. Let's embrace solar and emerging technologies, support our universities and encourage public/private partnerships. These steps will help fuel a free market to create high paying jobs.

A Truly Balanced Budget requires responsible leadership. NO MORE GIMMICKS. We must not balance our budget on the backs of our children and Arizona's families. We CAN get our fiscal house in order without undercutting our future.

Why are you running for office?
I am running to help focus our community on issues that impact us all on a daily basis, specifically public education, water and growth planning and the need for economic development that focuses on solar and high technology businesses.

With a complete Republican leadership (governor, house and senate) as of Sept. 1, 2009 this ideologically driven majority has have been unable to agree on a budget in the longest legislative session in Arizona's history.  Arizona has gone backward in the areas of health, K-12 public education, the environment and our universities.

The time has come to elect forward thinking individuals with some fresh ideas. With my professional background, commitment to be inclusive and creative in pursuing solutions to our problems I will be an effective legislator.

What are your goals when elected?
First, we must bring back the popularity of honest, respectful debate.

We can then move forward to make public education an absolute top priority.

We must begin to build a stronger, smarter economic base beginning with solar and high technology businesses. We are fortunate to have a valuable partner in the University of Arizona.

We must face our water issues. We must develop water and growth planning using scientific facts.
What is the most important economic factor facing Arizona?
Our biggest economic issue is the low ranking of our public school system.

Poor schools lower a state's ability to attract the types of businesses that employ highly educated workers. We must make public education a priority.
